WHAT DO I NEED?

Annealed

Tempered

Laminated

ANNEALED glass is just a fancy word for regular glass. 2mm Clear and 2mm non glare is found in mst picture frames. 3mm clear is great to protect small surfaces such as a nightstand. Some older houses have single pane 3mm glass. When annealed glass breaks, it breaks into large jagged pieces making it a danger for large lacerations. Annealed glass can be cut again and again as long as there is 1/4" available.

TEMPERED glass is first cut to size and either heated or chemically treated to STRENGTHEN the glass to about four times more than annealed. When it breaks it shatters into lots of little pieces making this SAFETY glass. Tempered glass is therefore used in all doors, showers, and railing glass. This also means that tempered glass can never be cut. We can temper most glass products.

LAMINATED glass means two pieces of annealed glass are laminated together to make one thicker piece SAFETY glass. The interlayer holds the broken pieces together so no large jagged pieces fall off. Two or more pieces can be laminated together to create amazing colors, textures and much more. Laminated glass is more expensive than tempered, but is carried in house and can be cut from sheets.
